These varying gem types also have different fundamental properties. The effect of each gem is also determined by how it has been cut.

When gems have been socketed, they have been locked into place. This means that removing a gem is no longer possible when it has already been socketed. However, you can insert a new gem onto a socket which is already holding a gem. But take note that once you do this, the old one will be broken out of the socket and it will be shattered and no longer usable.

This technique, meanwhile, enables you to insert gems into your new socketed items as soon as you wish so that you no longer have to wait until the perfect gem collection has been found. This is because you always have a choice of having your items upgraded later on.
